We believe it is important for our rider’s to learn from the ground up. All lessons include ground work, grooming, first aid, and basic horse anatomy. Rider’s experience total horse husbandry and can enjoy a more thorough horse experience then simply jumping into a saddle and walking off.

Riding instruction is based on proper technique with safety always a first priority. Balance, sensitivity of the aids, suppleness, and willingness are key ideas when building your horse riding ability. Our emphasis is on establishing proper communication between horse and rider and a willingness of the horse to trust its rider.

Want to be an Olympian or Ride for Fun? At KHS, lessons are about the rider, not the coach, and are centred around the enjoyment of riding, training, and handling horses. Lessons are based solely on the rider, their previous experiences, confidence levels, abilities, and ambitions. Each lesson is tailored to suit the rider and aimed at what they would like to achieve.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to participate in the child’s learning so that they can feel more confident around the horses themselves. Adult lessons, Parent-child camps, and introduction to horses clinics are always available.

One hour lesson on-site using school horse $60.

KHS will also provide lessons for those who already have their own horse. Bring your horse for a lesson at KHS at Lovedale. The first session includes Krista riding your horse to judge its true contact, behaviour, and education. One hour lesson using your own horse $50.
